Fifty years ago today, a brand that makes breakfast lovers rejoice was first registered as a trademark in the United States. On August 27, 1968, P. Ferrero & C. S.p.A. was granted U.S. Registration No. 855647 for the mark NUTELLA for a “Spread containing cocoa and other ingredients.” Life was never the same again. Today, the NUTELLA brand is known worldwide, foodstuffs still need topping, and the 855647 registration is still in force.
